Investigation into murder case impartial:
ADGP Alok Mohan

Jan 26, Tuesday

Additional Director-General of Police (Law and Order) Alok Mohan has said that the investigation into the murder of 29-year-old Bajrang Dal activist Prashant Poojary has been fair and impartial. He said that Police Commissioner S. Murugan and other city police officials were doing a good job.

“We have acted swiftly to arrest the accused and crack the murder case in no time,” Mr. Mohan told presspersons here on Saturday. “As this investigation is headed by the Police Commissioner, we have been able to get good results in this case,” he said.

A few days ago, Bharatiya Janata Party State president Pralhad Joshi had accused Mr. Murugan of being incompetent to handle the case and even alleged that the investigation was being hushed up.

“We cannot keep denying and clarifying on what is being said against us [with regard to the investigation]. But, we expect everybody to behave in a responsible way,” he said.

Mr. Mohan said that the case was being investigated by a team of officials under the supervision of the Police Commissioner, the Director-General of Police and the Inspector-General of Police. “Everything is being seen and supervised at various levels. There is no way of the police being partial in any of the cases.” The police had been impartial and fair in their investigation, he said.

Mr. Mohan said they were keeping a close vigil on the messages posted on social networking sites and taking action in if messages that were detrimental to the peace in society were posted. “We ask people to forward such messages to the police. We guarantee action,” he said. ×On the threats received by local BJP leaders thorough Facebook and Whatsapp, Mr. Mohan said action would be initiated against the perpetrators and security would be provided to the leaders.
